The district may choose to name facilities to honor persons or entities that have made extraordinary historical and/or financial contributions to the district.  The naming of a district facility is a significant honor, and is a lasting and powerful affirmation of the honoree’s connection to the district and its mission.

For purposes of this policy, the terms “facility” and “facilities” are broadly defined and include:  all district properties, buildings and structures; interior spaces (rooms, equipment, auditoriums, galleries, labs, pools); exterior spaces (athletic fields, playgrounds, landscapes); collections; tribute markers; endowments; programs, etc.

All decisions regarding naming district-owned facilities in recognition of an honoree are ultimately at the discretion of the Board of Education, in accordance with recommendations of the superintendent or designate(s).
