The board shall prescribe the emergency situations for which the schools may be closed.  The board delegates to the superintendent the authority to close any school whenever any condition exists which, in the opinion of the superintendent, warrants the closing of one or more or all schools.  In situations involving the closing of the district’s schools, any provisions found in the current master contract(s) shall be followed.

The superintendent may delay the opening of school in cases of fog or ice until such hour as it is anticipated conditions are safe for transportation.  The superintendent shall develop a process to make appropriate information available on which to base the decision.
